In these we are painted a picture of what it takes to truly become one with yourself and your artistry, the tough journey that leads you there, and accepting what you can’t change but also fighting for what you can. On the chance of meeting him before he was an intelligent model with little to say but you could tell what hid beneath was a typhoon of magic. The most recent Mat Randol release of his 9 track album is pretty close to the cutting edge of hip-hop. The sample and beat have an ethereal, haunting quality, carrying Randol’s flow perfectly throughout the tracks. It is as if he is not simply giving you a piece of music to listen to but has created a soundscaped world where internal struggles clash around you. And yet his voice washes away your soul in a calm release. The production is spot-on, perfectly mixed and mastered, and the lyrics are refreshing. Mat Randol is giving the music industry in nine tracks a make over. Keep an eye out for the new model of music in this generation because you just might find it in this hip hop artisan’s speakers.
